Flurries of snow and flurries of finishes...

Sunbonnet Sues
Bright 9-Patches
WTP close up
Winnie the Pooh
Duckies
Train Set with Animals
Scrappy Flannel Squares
Blue and White Flannel Squares
Here are pictures of finishes done in January while the snow was blowing then the rain teeming down and  BBC mysteries on the DVD player.
  • The scrappy flannel squares are made from leftovers from Elizabeth, Cathy and me

The train set was a panel of cut outs to make stuffed toys from the SB stash. I fused and machine appliqued them and put in the animal stripes to make it bigger. The duckies is more of the same as the train set.The blue and white squares are from Elizabeth's stash, already cut. And I just yesterday got more items from her stash. Winnie the Pooh in a piece of yardage, probably backing to go with a panel or something. I took a closeup as the figures can't be made out. That will go to Project Linus through the Kincardine Guild. The 9 patches were made and in my stash waiting for something to be done with them. So I put them together with sashing and will keep this one back for a someday quilt. And the SB Sues came from Joanne's stash. They were already fused so I appliqued them down and made up 9 patches to make it bigger.

A good day to stay inside and......

out my front door
finish up the last 2 quilts that are basted. I did about 6 this month but they all need to be bound yet.  There is a large one from Cathy's class at SB left to do but I have decided to get off my butt and do it on my big machine now that it's working. I am still intimidated by it.

Now to go brush off the car!

My First Finish of 2013

Happy New Year to anyone who sees this!

These little duckies are my first finish of the year although they were started last year. The ducks were in a donation at ScrapBags and were meant to be stuffed toys.  The pink background and the flannel backing with little ducks on it were also donations. They were re purposed into a baby quilt. There are  toy train pieces also meant to be stuffed toys which I made into a top. There also were 6 Sunbonnet Sues from Joanne's stash. I did machine applique them as  they were just  fused. I need to make some 9 patch alternate blocks to make a decent size top. The SS finished at a scant 12" square and I had to do math to figure out how big to make  9 patches for the alternates which turned out to be 4 3/8's. I for one do not like the math of quilting. I found 3 tops that I had made in the fall which were under stuff so out of sight ,out of mind. They are flannel made from Elizabeths and Cathy's stashes. I have my own stash to use up and should stay away from these donations although.....Elizabeth is having a clean out...
